Lukashenko signs decree to increase support for some population groups

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed a decree “On social support for certain population groups,” BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

In line with the decree, starting from 1 January 2021, if a woman gives birth to four kids, her maternity leave will be included in her employment history provided that the maternity leave does not exceed 12 years in total (9 years now). These women will be granted retirement pensions if their employment history exceeds 20 years and a record of pension contributions is at least 10 years (17.5 years now).

The decree will ease requirements to getting retirement pensions for people who have had disability groups I and II for ten years.

The decree provides for a number of other amendments to offer more support to people who were born with disabilities and for parents taking care of children with severe disabilities.

Couples where women are under 40 will be offered one free attempt of in vitro fertilization if there are medical grounds for that.
