The main cause of tragedies and misfortunes on the road remains the human factor. Road users consciously violate the rules, for which they pay with their health. Often, carelessness on the road has a much higher price – human life!

It is unlikely that a driver getting behind the wheel drunk or speeding thinks that they might end up in a traffic police report. And the number of accidental road users suffering through someone else's fault is countless. The causes of all road misfortunes and accidents lie in the disregard for traffic rules.

For reference: On November 23, at about 15:24, near the village of Svidershchina, Tolochinsky district, the driver of a Mercedes-Benz truck with a semi-trailer lost control and skidded. The semi-trailer was thrown into the oncoming lane, where a collision occurred with a Renault Mascott car moving in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident, the driver of the Renault Mascott, born in 1967, died at the scene from his injuries.

For reference: On February 25, at about 20:30, on the M-3 highway, the driver of a PEUGEOT 206 car lost control of the vehicle, as a result of which she drove into the oncoming lane, where she collided

with an oncoming vehicle "TOYOTA SIENNA". As a result of the accident, a passenger of the "PEUGEOT 206" car, born in 2005, **died** in the intensive care unit of the healthcare institution.

For reference: **On December 15**, on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street in Postavy, a driver born in 1990, driving a "Seat Alhambra" car, hit a woman born in 1950 who was crossing the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. As a result of the accident, the woman sustained bodily injuries and was taken to a medical facility.

For reference: **On November 29**, in Vitebsk on Moskovsky Avenue, a driver of an "Audi" car hit a 10-year-old girl who was running across the road, according to preliminary information, in close proximity to a pedestrian crossing, against a red traffic light. As a result, the child was thrown aside, where she was hit by a "Volkswagen" car. As a result of the accident, the girl was taken to a healthcare institution.

Dear motorists! Do not forget about increased safety measures in the cold season, choose a safe speed considering the road surface condition, increase the distance and lateral interval, avoid any sudden movements and maneuvers. Remember that children under 12 years of age must be transported using child restraint systems, and all passengers must wear seat belts. And be very attentive when driving through pedestrian crossings.

Dear pedestrians! Do not ignore the simple rule: cross the roadway only in designated areas, make sure that drivers see you and have stopped. It is also necessary to remember that a vehicle on a cold, wet surface sometimes cannot stop at a short distance. When crossing the road, always monitor the traffic situation and ensure the safety of your actions. In the dark, when moving in unlit areas, be sure to mark yourself with retroreflective elements.

Many years of practice show that mutual respect, discipline of all road users, as well as tolerance towards each other are the key to road safety, which does not forgive mistakes!
