Under this title, the Department of State Automobile Inspectorate of the Public Security Militia of the Glubokoe District Department of Internal Affairs will hold a Unified Road Safety Day on December 29, 2023, aimed at preventing road traffic accidents caused by driving under the influence.

"To the New Year and Safe Travels – Be Sober Behind the Wheel!"

Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to eradicate drunk driving. Despite the propaganda on safe behavior of road users conducted by the State Automobile Inspectorate officers, there are still quite a few citizens who do not mind driving a car or motorcycle while intoxicated.

In January-November of the current year, 54 drivers were detained by officers of the State Automobile Inspectorate Department of the Glubokoe District Department of Internal Affairs while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Looking at these figures is unsettling. After all, these individuals could have brought great grief to someone's family. Some intentionally, others because their consciousness was dulled by alcohol. They got behind the wheel of their vehicles and drove on the same roads and streets where we, our children, parents, and relatives travel. It is hard to comprehend that some citizens who drive while intoxicated are not deterred by hefty fines or the possibility of losing their driving privileges for 3 to 5 years. One can lose their job and freedom, and even more importantly, their life.

We would like to remind you once again about the responsibility for driving a vehicle while intoxicated: driving a vehicle with an absolute ethyl alcohol content in the blood or exhaled air in a concentration of up to 0.8 per mille – entails a fine of one hundred basic units and the revocation of the right to engage in certain activities for a period of three years, above 0.8 per mille – entails a fine of two hundred basic units.

Repeated driving of a vehicle while intoxicated also provides for an increase in the period of deprivation of driving licenses up to 5 years, or a fine of up to 1000 base amounts, or correctional labor for a period of up to 2 years, or arrest for a period of up to 6 months. And this is in the case where drunk driving does not result in someone's death or serious injury.

The Traffic Police Department of the Public Security Militia of the Glubokoye District Department of Internal Affairs calls on road users to comply with the Traffic Rules. It advocates for joint efforts to restore order on the city roads and eradicate drunk driving.
