To the Applicant. How to become a rescuer?

For current eleventh-graders, only a few weeks remain to decide on their future path. The regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) reported on where one can obtain a profession related to ensuring safety and rescuing people.

Those who have decided to dedicate their lives to the profession of a rescuer are invited by the Civil Protection University (CPU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk.

The university offers training in the specialty "Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations" (male students only) and in the specialty "Fire and Industrial Safety" (male and female students). The duration of study is 4 years. To be admitted, certificates of centralized testing in mathematics, physics, and Russian (Belarusian) language are required. The duration of study in full-time education is 4 years. Before admission, all candidates must undergo a mandatory professional selection, which includes: conducting special checks, studying moral and business qualities, medical examination by a military medical commission, and determining the level of physical fitness of candidates.

The advantage of studying at the CPU of the MES is that all cadets are provided with accommodation, meals, uniform, state insurance, and medical care, as well as a monthly allowance (averaging around 300 Belarusian rubles). During their studies, cadets have the opportunity to learn practical driving and obtain a category "B" driver's license. Graduates receive the officer rank of "lieutenant of the internal service" and are guaranteed employment. In most cases, graduates are assigned to their place of residence or nearby units.

Applicants who do not pass the competition for state-funded places can participate in the competition for full-time education on a fee-paying basis.

Purposefully towards admission

The Specialized Lyceum at the University of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus in Gomel trains students for higher education institutions of the national security system of Belarus. Young men who have completed the 6th grade are admitted here. The training period is 5 years (from the 7th to the 11th grades) with round-the-clock accommodation.

Lyceum students are fully provided by the state (uniforms, five meals a day, accommodation, medical care). The Lyceum has a unique educational, training, and material and technical base: academic and residential buildings, sports, fitness, and wrestling halls, a 25-meter swimming pool. Lyceum graduates with marks of 7 points or higher in their certificates have the right to enter higher education institutions of law enforcement agencies without taking the Centralized Testing.

Entrance examinations to the Lyceum include mathematics and the Russian (Belarusian) language. Admission is based on a competition, taking into account the total score obtained. Persons with benefits provided by law are admitted out of competition, provided they receive marks of at least 4 points in the entrance examinations.

For those who did not enter the University of Civil Protection, admission to the Polotsk State Chemical-Technological College for the specialty "Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations" is a good choice. The training period in the full-time department on a budget basis is 2 years and 10 months. Young men aged 17 to 25 with a certificate of general secondary education are admitted. Dormitory is provided to all in need.

College graduates receive the professional qualification of "rescuer-firefighter" and are employed in the bodies and units for emergency situations in positions of enlisted and junior command staff. Upon graduation from college, graduates have the right to enter the University of Civil Protection for a shortened part-time study program (training period of 3 years).
