Autonomous fire alarm

A dismissive attitude towards autonomous fire alarms can still be heard from some of our citizens. However, statistics show an increasing number of cases where an autonomous fire alarm timely warns of danger, thereby saving people from disaster. In order to prevent fires and deaths from them, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are conducting the republican campaign "Safety - in every home!", in connection with which Glubokoye rescuers are once again reminding about the benefits of autonomous fire alarms.

We begin the discussion about the effectiveness of autonomous fire alarms (APIs) with a small experiment. We bring a burning piece of paper to the round device. A column of smoke directed precisely at the surface of the API causes it to emit a loud screech. It will warn of mortal danger. This is precisely the task of an autonomous fire alarm.

Statistics show that more than 50% of fires with fatalities occur precisely when a person is asleep. In their sleep, they do not smell smoke and are therefore most vulnerable. It is possible to detect a fire in a timely manner and thereby prevent a fire, loss of life, and material damage by installing an autonomous fire alarm in the apartment.

An autonomous fire alarm is the most accessible means capable of protecting people and their homes from the terrible consequences of a fire. The device reacts to the emergence of smoke, emitting a powerful sound signal, which can be heard not only by a sleeping person but also by their neighbors. It is extremely simple and undemanding in operation: batteries need to be replaced once a year, and the API should be periodically cleaned of dust.

It is very important to choose the correct installation location for the alarm. The optimal point is in the central part of the ceiling with a slight shift towards the window or door, where air currents move. When activated, the alarm emits a loud signal capable of waking a soundly sleeping person.
