Autonomous smoke detector - effective and reliable protection for your home

Everyone knows about the existence of autonomous smoke detectors today. The necessity of their installation has long been beyond doubt, however, many people still do not fully understand the importance of this device and that it is precisely it that can promptly alert about danger and provide an opportunity to save people and property from fire.

Practice shows that in households equipped with autonomous smoke detectors, the safety level of people living in them increases many times over. In 2020 alone, in the Vitebsk region, 24 people, including 3 children, were saved thanks to the activation of autonomous smoke detectors. This year, 12 people have already been saved, including 5 children.

January 24 at 22:35, a report was received about an apartment fire in Dubrovno at per. Kondratyev, d. 3. Upon arrival at the scene, dense smoke was observed in the apartment. The house is brick, two-apartment, single-story. An autonomous smoke detector was installed in the apartment in 2013 at the expense of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee, which activated at the time of the fire. During the investigation of the incident, it was found that at the time of the fire, the owner of the apartment, born in 1954, was sleeping in the bedroom. Hearing the autonomous smoke detector activate, she woke up her son and his wife, after which they left the house on their own and called the rescuers. The pensioner living in the neighboring apartment was not injured. As a result of the fire, the walls and ceiling of the apartment were damaged, the walls were smoke-stained, and property was damaged. The considered version of the fire's origin is the violation of the rules for operating electrical networks and electrical equipment.

February 21 at 8:11, a report was received by phone "101" about a fire in an apartment on Frantsisk Skorina Street in the city of Polotsk. When rescuers arrived

to the scene, heavy smoke was observed coming from the window of an apartment on the 4th floor of a nine-story apartment building. The owner of the apartment, a man born in 1969, lived with his wife, born in 1977, and three children: a daughter born in 2012 and two sons born in 2015 and 2016. At the time of the fire, the father and children were in the apartment, sleeping; the mother had gone to work. Upon hearing the autonomous smoke detector, the elder daughter and father discovered a computer fire in the room where the children were. Waking the younger children, the entire family safely left the dwelling. The man disconnected the electricity and attempted to extinguish the fire himself, but due to heavy smoke, this was impossible. The children were sent to the hospital by ambulance for health diagnostics. The fire was extinguished by the Ministry of Emergency Situations personnel. Due to the fire, the walls in the apartment were smoke-stained, and property was damaged. An investigation is underway regarding this incident, and the cause of the fire is being determined. The following version is being considered: violation of the rules for the operation of electrical networks and electrical equipment (computer short circuit).

On May 3rd at 23:18, a report was received about a fire in a house on Sadovaya Street in the agro-town of Mezhevo, Orshansky District. As a result of the fire, the roof and ceiling of the house were destroyed, and the walls were damaged. The roof, ceiling, and walls of the shed were destroyed, and property was damaged. The roof, ceiling, and walls of the bathhouse were destroyed, and property was damaged. As a result of the APPI activation, three people were saved (the owner, born in 1986, unemployed, and his two children, born in 2010 and 2013). The cause of the fire is being determined. The considered version of the cause of the fire is arson (the perpetrator is being identified).

We believe that no further arguments are needed to emphasize the necessity of installing an autonomous smoke detector. And, you must agree, its cost, which is just over 10 rubles, is incomparable to the price of the consequences that fires lead to, destroying property accumulated over years, and sometimes, taking human lives.

The APPI is sensitive even to minor smoke in a room, which facilitates the rapid detection of a fire in its early stages. When smoke appears, it emits a loud audible signal that can alert and even wake a sleeping person.

Installationthe detector does not require special knowledge or skills. A detailed instruction manual is included, containing all the necessary information on installation, design, and operating rules. It is recommended to install the detector in the central part of the ceiling with a slight offset towards a window or door – where constant air circulation is ensured. A particularly effective solution could be connecting the detectors into a single network with neighboring houses or apartments, or routing the detector's signal to a light and sound device located on the building's facade. If the residents of the house where the fire occurred do not react to the alarm, passers-by or neighbors will be alerted, as the detector will simultaneously activate for them.
