In 2025, Belarusians must pay property taxes no later than November 17

July 31, 2025

Belarusians must pay property taxes by November 17, 2025, as announced today at a press conference by Andrey Kovalevsky, Head of the Main Department for Taxation of Individuals of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties.

"Annually, over 3.5 million citizens of our country and foreign citizens who own real estate in Belarus pay property taxes. These include land tax from individuals, real estate tax, and transport tax. The taxpayers are all citizens who own real estate such as houses, apartments, garages, garden houses, dachas, commercial real estate, as well as land plots and vehicles registered with the traffic police. This year, considering that construction is ongoing every year, the number of real estate objects is growing, and vehicles are being purchased, it is expected that the number of such taxpayers will exceed 3 million 600 thousand people," said Andrey Kovalevsky.

Currently, tax authorities are finalizing the calculation of property taxes. In early August, notifications will be prepared for mailing and uploaded to taxpayers' personal accounts. "Many who used the personal account noticed that last year they received a notification on paper as well. This was due to issues where some citizens lost their personal account passwords, and there were complaints about the absence of a paper notification, making it unclear how to pay. This year, some modernization has been carried out: those who logged into their personal account saw a pop-up message asking if they wished to receive notifications electronically. Those who confirmed their consent will receive notifications exclusively in electronic form this year. Currently, this applies to about 160,000 people. The majority will receive notifications by mail. All notifications will be sent to taxpayers no later than October 1. Taxes are payable no later than November 15, but since this day falls on a Saturday this year, the tax payment deadline is moved to the first working day according to the law. That is, this year taxes must be paid no later than November 17," noted the representative of the Ministry of Taxes and Levies.

Property taxes are paid by individuals at the end of the year. "This means that this year we are paying taxes for 2024. Therefore, if someone owned real estate or vehicles in 2024, even if the apartment or car has been sold by now, taxes for 2024 are still payable. And, accordingly, those who acquired property in 2025 will not pay taxes this year. Taxes for 2025 will be paid in 2026," explained the head of the main department.

According to him, each notice provides a detailed calculation of taxes for each type of property, whether it is a tax for an apartment, a land plot, or a vehicle. It also lists the contact phone numbers of the tax authorities that calculated the tax, meaning you can always get in touch if you have any questions. In the taxpayer's personal account on the tax authorities' website, you can view the real estate objects subject to tax, and there is a function that allows you to make corrections. These edits are immediately known to the tax authorities in online mode. The tax authority will check against state information resources whether the information provided by the taxpayer is accurate. If there are grounds, the data will be adjusted, and the taxpayer will be notified of the changed tax amount.
