The problem of drowning is one of the most pressing issues at the present time. The issues of preventing citizen deaths on the water are under constant control of the Verkhovna Rada of the Hlybokaye District.
The peak of drowning occurs during the swimming season. Most accidents are recorded at the end of the working week, on weekends and holidays, in bodies of water without seasonal rescue posts, as well as in bodies of water not equipped for swimming.
Swimming in unequipped areas, non-compliance with basic rules of conduct on the water, and swimming while intoxicated are the main reasons for drowning. Most accidents involving children occur due to their swimming without adult supervision.
The Verkhovna Rada of the Hlybokaye District reminds that according to clause 20 of the Rules for the Preservation of Human Life on Water in the Republic of Belarus, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated December 11, 2009 No. 1623, vacationers are prohibited from:
swimming in prohibited areas of rivers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds, and other bodies of water;
polluting and littering bodies of water, driving vehicles onto beach areas, violating the regime of water protection zones;
drinking alcoholic beverages on the beach;
swimming beyond buoys and other signs indicating swimming zones;
approaching vessels (motor, sailing, rowing boats) and other watercraft;
climbing on technical and warning signs, buoys, and other objects;
jumping into the water from boats, motorboats, piers, and other structures not adapted for these purposes;
using rescue equipment and gear for unintended purposes;
swimming on boards, loungers, logs, inner tubes, and inflatable mattresses;
organizing games in the water involving diving and grabbing a swimmer, as well as taking other actions that may cause an accident;
giving false alarm signals;
leaving young children unattended;
washing laundry and bathing animals on beaches.
It is also important to pay attention to prohibition signs such as "No swimming" and "Danger," which indicate that swimming is unsafe for life and health.
Failure to comply with water safety rules can lead to tragic consequences! The safety of each of you and the safety of your children depends on you! We wish you a pleasant and safe recreation by the water!
