Home without violence

From April 8 to April 17, 2024, the republican preventive campaign "A Home Without Violence!" is being held in the Gluboksky district. Its goal is to involve broad segments of the population in providing assistance and support to state bodies in resolving issues of domestic violence, implementing systemic measures for individual crime prevention, and preventive measures against citizens who commit domestic violence.

Domestic violence is a cycle of physical, verbal, psychological, and economic abuse that repeats with increasing frequency, aimed at controlling, intimidating, and instilling fear in one family member by another or others; situations in which one person controls or attempts to control the behavior and feelings of another.

Domestic violence occurs behind closed doors, but it is undoubtedly a problem for the entire society. Domestic violence is the most common form of violence against women. According to research conducted in several countries by the World Health Organization, up to 70% of women have experienced physical violence from their intimate partner or husband at least once in their lives.

Violence in any form is unacceptable to society. Where there is domestic violence, there is no family.

In many families that have an image of respectability and well-being, quiet violence often occurs. Identifying such facts is often complicated by the fact that the victim, fearing to spoil the family's reputation and destroy the appearance of false well-being, does not dare to seek help not only from state bodies but also from acquaintances, relatives, and friends. However, human patience is not infinite, and sometimes a calm, sweet

a woman tired of a tyrannical husband, or a child constantly bullied by parents, become murderers.

How not to become a victim of a domestic tyrant? What to do if violence is already present in your family?

1. If a critical situation arises, try to leave the apartment immediately.

2. If bullying is systematic, you should pack the most essential items in advance and leave them in a safe place – with relatives or friends.

3. Always keep documents, keys, and money in a place where you can quickly grab them when leaving the apartment.

4. Ask neighbors you trust the most to call the police if they hear screams from your apartment.

5. If you cannot leave the apartment, you must:

- lock yourself in the bathroom with a phone and try to call the police;

- call friends or neighbors and ask them to come to your aid;

- call for help loudly;

- open the windows, try to attract the attention of passers-by and ask them for help.

6. If you manage to get out onto the landing, knock on all doors, shout, and call for help. Even if no one comes out, it may at least deter the attacker, and you will have witnesses to the incident if you later contact the police.

1. Law enforcement agencies. If you have been subjected to domestic violence, contact the Glubokoe District Department of Internal Affairs by calling 102, 30859.

2. Psychologists of the free crisis information hotline for victims of domestic violence at 8-029-3673232. The line operates 24/7, and you can call from anywhere in the Republic of Belarus. Assistance is provided anonymously and free of charge.

3. Glubokoe Territorial Center for Social Services (during daytime hours at the Department of Comprehensive Support in Crisis Situations by phone 3-72-88, 8-029-226-22-80).

4. Healthcare Institution "Glubokoe Central Regional Hospital". If you have suffered physical violence, seek medical attention at the emergency room and have the injuries documented.
