PM: Breakthrough was achieved during Belarusian delegation’s visit to Nicaragua

It would not be an overstatement to say that a breakthrough was achieved during the visit to Nicaragua, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said following the official visit of Belarus’ delegation to Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, BelTA has learned.

“This is a small Central American country, we have not had such close relations with it as we have had with Venezuela or Cuba for decades. There were mostly occasional contacts within international platforms. And the first visit of a big Belarusian delegation produced such an immediate and appreciable result,” he emphasized.

The prime minister recalled that huge contracts were concluded in Nicaragua. “More than 700 units of Belarusian equipment will be shipped to Nicaragua in the near future. We will not only deliver equipment, but we will also provide maintenance service and spare parts,” said Roman Golovchenko. “And this is just the beginning, because the demand is great. We explored the possibility to supply more such products.”

The official visit of the prime minister of Belarus to Latin American countries ended on 20 July. Roman Golovchenko toured Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, where cooperation agreements were reached. In particular, Belarus and Venezuela thrashed out plans to restart joint projects in industry and other areas. Agreements on the supply of tractors and milk powder, and cooperation agreements in the pharmaceutical field were inked with Cuba. Contracts for the supply of more than 700 units of equipment worth a total of $85 million were signed in Nicaragua.
