Deep meets heroes: a cycling race of memory and spirituality

The Glubokoe district became part of a grand event – a large-scale cycling race dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 900th anniversary of the Polotsk Holy Euphrosyne Monastery.

The Deputy Chairman of the Glubokoe District Executive Committee, Tatyana Tarasevich, addressed the participants of the cycling race with a welcoming speech:

– Your aspiration to combine the memory of the great Victory and respect for the centuries-old spiritual heritage of our land in one journey evokes deep admiration. You are proof that the younger generation remembers and is proud of its history. This cycling race is a true lesson in patriotism and spirituality.

The head of the group, Leonid Sinyavsky, director of the Olympic Reserve School No. 2 in Polotsk, said: "We set ourselves the task of dedicating this cycling race to two important dates. This is our way of saying 'thank you' to those who defended our Motherland and expressing respect for the spiritual roots of our nation."

Participants of the cycling race, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Polotsk Holy Euphrosyne Monastery, learned about the history and cultural heritage of the district and visited the square of famous countrymen.

The guests inspected the interior of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and descended into the basement, known as the crypt, where the remains of monks are kept.

The visit to the church concluded with a prayer service, which was performed by Archpriest Mikhail Isoitko near the main shrine of the cathedral – the icon of the Mother of God "It is Worthy to Eat".

This moment became a symbol of unity and memory, emphasizing the importance of spiritual values in our lives.
