On March 9, the dispatcher of the Ivye District Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report of dry vegetation catching fire in the village of Devergi. Responding rescue units stopped the fire front that was approaching the buildings. A pensioner, born in 1940, was found lifeless on the scorched earth.
On March 12, 2022, the rescue service received a report of a dry vegetation (grass) fire in the village of Mikhedovichi, Petrikov District. Upon arrival at the scene, rescuers established that dry vegetation was burning openly on a household plot. During the reconnaissance of the burnt grass area, the severely burnt body of a pensioner, born in 1935, who lived in the house adjacent to the burning plot, was discovered.
The causes of the fires are being investigated. The suspected cause is careless handling of fire.
To prevent fires caused by burning dry vegetation, rescuers recommend observing the following rules:
1. Never burn grass. In addition to being harmful to plants and animals, fires can also be dangerous to humans. Do not leave a burning fire unattended. Thoroughly extinguish cigarette butts and matches before discarding them;
2. If you notice a fire, do not pass by. You can extinguish burning grass yourself. When extinguishing with improvised means, you can beat down the flames from the fire edge with a bundle of twigs or branches of deciduous trees, or cover the fire edge with sand;
3. After extinguishing the fire, do not leave until you are sure that the fire will not reignite;
4. If you realize that
if you cannot extinguish the flame yourself, immediately report the incident by calling 101 or 112 and try to leave the scene of the fire as quickly as possible.
How many more people must die for people to finally understand that burning dry vegetation leads to nothing good, but only brings uncontrolled burning, destruction, and death! Be reasonable and do not endanger your life and the lives of your loved ones danger!
