By Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of January 1, 2022 No. 1 (hereinafter referred to as the Decree), 2022 has been declared the Year of Historical Memory.

The purpose of the Decree is to form an objective attitude of society towards the historical past, to preserve and strengthen the unity of the Belarusian people.

The Glubokoye district is rich in sites that preserve the memory of the history of the Belarusian people; over 60 objects of tangible immovable historical and cultural heritage, included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus, are located on its territory.

Given the significant number of historical and cultural values in the district, compliance with legislation on their protection is under special control of the district prosecutor's office. This issue is particularly relevant in the Year of Historical Memory.

The prosecutor's office reminds that administrative and criminal liability is provided for violation of legislative requirements in the field of protection of historical and cultural heritage.

Thus, in accordance with Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, for the destruction, damage to historical and cultural values or cultural values possessing distinctive spiritual, artistic and (or) documentary merits and corresponding to one of the criteria for granting them the status of historical and cultural value, committed through negligence, or their loss due to careless storage, a fine is imposed in the amount of five to thirty basic units, for an individual entrepreneur - from twenty to one hundred basic units, and for a legal entity - up to five hundred basic units.

Criminal liability for violation of legislation in the field of protection of historical and cultural heritage is provided for by Articles 230, 344-346 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

Our common task is to preserve and multiply the heritage for future generations.
