Alcohol is one of the most insidious enemies of all road users, as it leaves them defenseless against potential danger. The prohibition of driving vehicles while intoxicated is aimed at ensuring road safety, however, citizens often disregard safety and get behind the wheel drunk, which in turn can lead to traffic accidents.

The court of Glubokoe district convicted citizen X. under Part 1 of Article 317-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. Thus, the latter was found guilty of driving a vehicle while intoxicated, committed within a year after being subjected to administrative penalties for the same offense.

By the court's sentence, citizen X. was subjected to punishment in the form of correctional labor for a term of two years with the retention of 20% of his earnings to the state revenue, with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for a period of 5 years. In addition, the car belonging to citizen X. was confiscated to the state revenue.

The state is actively fighting to prevent driving vehicles while intoxicated. Thus, Part 1 of Article 46-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus provides that, regardless of the ownership, the vehicle driven by a person who has committed a crime provided for in Article 317-1 of this Code shall be subject to special confiscation (with the exception of vehicles that have left the legal possession of the owner (user) against their will or as a result of unlawful actions of other persons).
