When safety meets poetry: an unusual competition was held in the Glubokoe district

It weighs only a few dozen grams, is mounted on the ceiling in a couple of minutes, and silently guards the home for years. Its task is to detect danger before a person smells smoke. Residents of the Glubokoye district dedicated their lines to it. Who is it? A hero of a great cause – an autonomous fire alarm. An unusual and very warm contest was held in the Glubokoye district. Residents of the district created their own poems dedicated to the autonomous fire alarm. It would seem like a technical topic, but the contest participants proved that safety can be discussed vividly, figuratively, and truly inspiringly.

Participants presented dozens of poems – from short quatrains to entire mini-epics. In them, the autonomous fire alarm transformed into a "little guardian," a "house spirit rescuer," or a "night watchman who doesn't sleep for a minute." Participants wrote about the importance of hearing the alarm signal in time, why an alarm should be in every home, and how it helps save lives. The top five prize-winners included artistic works by: Galina Shiman from the village of Zamkhovo, Zinaida Yakubenok from the village of Zaprudye, Anastasia Apetenok from Glubokoye, Petr Kolyago from the agro-town of Ozyortsy, and Marina Khrol from the village of Matyukovo. It would seem like a strict, almost technical topic. Each poem is not just rhymes, but a small story about the importance of hearing the alarm signal in time.

Fire develops rapidly: just a few minutes separate small smoldering from open flames. Night hours are particularly dangerous when people are asleep and cannot detect smoke in time. The autonomous alarm reacts to smoke instantly and emits a loud audible signal that can wake even a soundly sleeping person. It does not require wires, runs on a battery, and continues to protect the home even when the electricity is off.
The best place for it is the center of the ceiling, where the air moves most freely. And although the installation may seem like a serious matter, it is actually quite simple. A couple of screws, a slight turn of the housing, and the detector is in place. While everything is calm, a tiny red light flashes on its housing – like a heart beating in a standby rhythm. But as soon as smoke appears, it will speak loudly, insistently, not allowing the danger to go unnoticed. Its signal is not just a sound, but a chance. A chance to wake up, get out, and save yourself and your loved ones.
