Lukashenko: preserving peace is the sacred duty of the current generation of Belarusians

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko addressed his compatriots on the occasion of the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Head of State.
"June 22, 1941, is a sacred date in our history. Belarus was hit by a trial, the severity of which has left an indelible mark on the national memory forever. Believing in their invincibility, elevating violence and aggression to an absolute, armadas from the West came to kill, conquer, and enslave. They only forgot one thing. About the love of freedom, devotion, and resilience of the people living on this land. And they paid for it," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized in his address.
At the same time, the President noted that the summer of 1941 is not only about the past: "There will be no more blitzkriegs and treacherous attacks. We have learned the lessons of Western hypocrisy and lies once and for all. The Great Victory was achieved at too high a price."
"Every generation of Belarusians has its own destiny. Some are destined to fight and be ready to give their lives for the Motherland. Others are to preserve the memory of military exploits and not allow the fire of war to scorch the fields and meadows of the Fatherland again. Preserving peace is our sacred duty. We will always remember the heroism of our fathers and grandfathers with deep gratitude for the peaceful sky above our heads," the address states.
