Lukashenko pardons 16 convicts on the eve of Independence Day

Ahead of Independence Day, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko granted pardon requests for 16 convicts who committed various crimes, including those of an extremist nature. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
Among those pardoned are eight women and eight men. Three of them are over 50 years old. Two have chronic illnesses, and one is disabled. Nine convicts have minor children.
All of them have repented of their actions and pledged not to break the law.
