Housing for large families should be evenly distributed throughout the country, not just in Minsk and other major cities. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on October 23 at a meeting with the leadership of the Council of Ministers, a BELTA correspondent reports.The President noted that the construction of housing for military personnel and large families is among the state's priorities and will remain the number one issue in the future. Much is already being done to support large families, including assistance with housing construction and the payment of family capital. However, regarding housing construction, the head of state was critical of the locations for houses for large families. "We started building housing in Minsk, in convenient locations, drawing labor to the cities. What are we doing?" he said. "Why are we drawing large families to Minsk? They should live all over the country, like everyone else. Even distribution of hands, labor, as it was in Soviet times."
In addition, outside of major cities, there is an opportunity to build not only apartments but also houses with land plots where something can be grown. "We need to dig in the ground and do something with our own hands. We have forgotten about this, and started building housing for large families in Minsk and regional centers," noted Alexander Lukashenko. The President also emphasized that when providing assistance, the approach should be targeted, and general measures should not be applied. "Before providing a person with a house or an apartment, you need to figure out who we are giving housing to with state support, what kind of large families they are. You need to look into the details," the head of state pointed out.
