Rescuers know firsthand about the detrimental effects of habits such as alcohol consumption and smoking on human life. And the expression "smoking kills" takes on a very concrete shape in light of the operational reports of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In order to prevent fires and deaths from them due to careless handling of fire while smoking, from November 2 to November 30, the republican preventive campaign "Don't Burn Your Life Away!" is being held on the territory of the Vitebsk region.

To maximize public outreach, the campaign events are divided into 4 stages, which will take place at the bus station and railway station, on public transport and at stops. At this stage, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and activists of the youth organization of rescuers and firefighters will distribute thematic visual materials to passengers, and talk about the dangers of smoking in bed, the number of fires, and people who died for this reason.

Rescuers will also visit schools and the Glubokoye State Vocational Lyceum, enterprises and organizations, public catering establishments, and cultural and leisure centers.

The events will be held in the form of interactive discussions and intellectual QUIZ games.

The final stage will take place on November 30 in large retail outlets with the presentation of the new campaign "Don't Wait for a Squirrel. Extinguish Your Cigarette Butt!"
