Due to the melting of ice on water bodies, the risk of people drowning has increased, therefore, urgent additional measures must be taken to ensure the safety of children near water bodies.

With the onset of spring, under the influence of sunlight, the ice melts quickly. The increasing current in rivers, which erodes it from below, has an even more destructive effect on it. Every day it becomes more porous, loose, and weak. It is quite understandable that moving on thin ice is associated with great danger.

Potential victims are ice fishing enthusiasts. In addition to fishermen, children drown more often. Simple safety rules should be followed:

- Remember that ice at least 7 cm thick is considered relatively safe. It is green or bluish-green in color. Dirty, brownish-gray ice is usually already melted and weak.

- Ice is considered weak near the mouths of rivers and tributaries, near springs and effluents, as well as trees, bushes, and reeds.

- Do not test the strength of the ice by jumping on it or hitting it with your foot.

- Equip yourself correctly for ice fishing: take at least a minimum set of rescue equipment with you: a rope, a stick, a board, a life jacket, "crampons" to get out.

Games on the ice during the river opening period are especially unacceptable. Jumping from ice floe to ice floe, moving away from the shore is very dangerous.
