From October 8 to October 20, 2024, the Traffic Police Department of the Glubokoye District Department of Internal Affairs will conduct a set of preventive measures aimed at preventing road traffic accidents involving and due to vulnerable road users.

We have to talk again about the fact that pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers of horse-drawn carts without retroreflective elements, whose behavior is quite unpredictable on the roads, pose no less danger. The absence of reflectors on clothing in the dark, walking on the roadway, crossing in close proximity to vehicles and against a red traffic light are the prerequisites contributing to accidents involving them. This category of road users, for some reason, completely forgets about elementary safety measures, not to mention compliance with traffic regulations.

Dear drivers! Remember that a pedestrian crossing is a place of increased danger. When approaching a pedestrian crossing, you should reduce speed in advance, increase attention, and assess visibility conditions. You must be prepared to stop and let pedestrians who are starting or finishing their crossing pass. The pedestrian has the right of way at the crossing. If you are driving in a stream of vehicles in the second lane, be prepared for pedestrians to emerge onto the pedestrian crossing from behind a vehicle stopped in the first lane.

Drivers who do not give way to pedestrians at unregulated and regulated pedestrian crossings, when the signal of a traffic controller or traffic light is permissive for both drivers and pedestrians, are subject to administrative liability in the form of a fine ranging from 1 to 5 base units.

Dear pedestrians! You must

strictly adhere to the Traffic Rules. You must cross the road at a pedestrian crossing. Before crossing the roadway, you must carefully assess the situation and make sure that all vehicles have stopped, the drivers see you and are yielding. Do not forget that talking on the phone or listening to music with headphones while crossing the road is dangerous! During rain, do not forget to remove your hood or raise your umbrella so that the pedestrian crossing and the road are visible.

It is especially dangerous to cross the roadway at night or in conditions of poor visibility, as a pedestrian sees a car with its headlights on, while a driver may not notice a pedestrian. In this case, dark clothing absorbs light and is usually less visible to the driver. To improve visibility on the road and ensure your safety at night, you must make yourself visible with reflective elements.

Many traffic tragedies could have been easily avoided by pedestrians. As a rule, people pay for their carelessness and unwillingness to comply with traffic rules.

The responsibility for pedestrians who violate the Traffic Rules is: from 1 to 3 basic units, for pedestrians who are in a state of alcoholic intoxication, from 3 to 5 basic units.
