A Talk About What Matters

To inform and educate on fire safety issues, a meeting was held between employees of the territorial center for social services of the population of the Gluboksky district and Vladislav Volkov, senior inspector of the supervision and prevention sector of the Gluboksky district department for emergency situations.

At the beginning of his speech, the Ministry of Emergency Situations employee presented statistics on fires in the Vitebsk region, spoke about important areas of work aimed at reducing the occurrence of fires, and also communicated the norms and most common causes of fires.

Of course, he focused the attention of those present on fire safety rules, not only in organizations at workplaces, but also in everyday life.

During the meeting, nuances of interaction between social workers and employees of the Gluboksky district department for emergency situations in conducting preventive work in the residential sector were reflected and analyzed.

Attention was drawn to the set of measures to provide assistance in eliminating violations and bringing households into a fire-safe condition.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations employee reminded that equipping residential premises of households with autonomous fire alarms is one of the measures aimed at saving people's lives and health. In confirmation of his words, Vladislav Volkov gave specific examples in which timely evacuation of people from a smoky and burning room was a factor in saving human lives.

The inspector of the Gluboksky District Department for Emergency Situations also drew the attention of social workers to the significance of their work: to bring not only food and medicines to the homes of those in need, pay utility bills, process documents, accompany them to the clinic, but most importantly – comfort, warmth, and help ensure fire safety:

— All stoves must be repaired and thoroughly inspected. Remember that it is forbidden to heat faulty stoves, ignite them with flammable and combustible liquids, dry and store clothes, fuel, and other combustible materials on stoves.

Paradoxical as it may sound, autumn and winter are the fire season.

Due to the cold weather outside, people are forced to use heaters. And a percentage of fires are caused precisely by the improper use of heaters:

— Remember that a heater is a powerful electrical appliance, so be sure to remember its operating rules, - comments an EMERCOM employee.
