Be careful on the road in the dark!

Due to the start of the autumn season and the reduction of daylight hours, from September 19 to 24, the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct nationwide preventive measures to ensure the safety of vulnerable road users. Special attention will be paid to preventing accidents in the dark.

Traffic Police officers will inform the public about safe behavior rules, including when riding bicycles and personal mobility devices. They will explain safety measures at pedestrian crossings. Taking into account the seasonal factor, they will remind about the necessity and rules of using retroreflective products.

Raids are planned to address the most accident-prone road sections and pedestrian crossings, involving cyclists and pedestrians who violate traffic rules, as well as drivers who ignore speed limits and crossing rules.

Since the beginning of the year, 67 pedestrians and 27 cyclists have died in road accidents in the country, and in every fifth case, the deceased were intoxicated.
