Friday evening, January 15, was not easy for Glubokoye rescuers. At 18:58, the dispatcher of the Glubokoye District Department for Emergency Situations received a report of a house fire on Sadovaya Street in the village of Proshkovo. Units from the Glubokoye, Shcharchovshchina, and Miory District Departments for Emergency Situations were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations units, the house was completely engulfed in flames, and the roof had collapsed. At the time of the fire, the owner and her son, who was visiting his mother, were inside the house. Upon entering the house, Ministry of Emergency Situations employees found the owner of the house without signs of life in one of the rooms. Some time later, rescuers found her deceased son in the bathroom.

The cause of the fire was a violation of the rules for operating stoves, heat-generating units, and devices.

You should check the readiness of your stove for the heating season in advance, and now is the best time to do it. First, you need to clean the chimney of soot, and then this work should be carried out at least once every 2 months.

Do not forget that the chimney in the attic should be plastered and whitewashed. This will allow you to easily identify problem areas during operation – cracks in the masonry, through which sparks can get onto the combustible ceiling structures. All cracks in the body of the stove itself must also be sealed. Under no circumstances should the stove body be covered with combustible materials or painted with combustible paint. The combustible floor in front of the stove's firebox must be protected with non-combustible sheet or tile material.

As practice shows,

more than half of fires due to stove heating occur in homes where elderly people live. Unfortunately, due to their age, elderly people cannot always prepare their stoves for the heating season on their own. Therefore, we once again appeal to adult children with a request to take care of the safety of their parents and bring their homes into a fire-safe condition.
