Safety regulations during Easter events

On April 20, Orthodox Christians will celebrate one of the main holidays – Bright Resurrection of Christ. On this day, festive services will be held in all churches, which will be attended by a large number of believers. During the Easter holidays and Radunitsa, rescuers pay special attention to safety in places of worship. Preparation for Christian holidays and the celebration itself impose special safety requirements. An integral part will be Easter kulichi, which will be carefully baked in every home on the eve, and thousands of candles will be lit on this joyous holiday.

To ensure that the preparation for the holidays and the celebration itself are not only comfortable but also safe, we share important rules that must be followed:

- Tie headscarves securely and tuck away your hair, reducing the risk of it catching fire from a candle when you bend your head.

- Supervise children to prevent them from bringing a lit candle close to their clothing;

- Try to maintain a safe distance from other parishioners holding lit candles.

- Hold a piece of paper or a handkerchief under the candle so that hot wax does not get on your skin, causing you to instinctively jerk your hand and drop the lit candle;

- Try to maintain a distance from other parishioners, do not crowd in one place.

- If a person's clothing catches fire, extinguish the flames as quickly as possible. Any dense fabric will be useful for this. Cover the victim with it to cut off oxygen supply and stop the burning process. However, be especially careful: do not cover the person's head, as this can lead to burns of the respiratory tract. High temperature affects the skin more detrimentally the longer and tighter the smoldering clothing is pressed against it.

- if your clothes catch fire, under no circumstances should you panic or run – the flames will flare up even more. To extinguish them, fall to the ground and roll. Try to quickly remove your burning clothes. After you manage to put out the fire, immediately seek emergency medical attention.

Do not forget about the danger of lit candles at home. After lighting a church candle, place it in a non-combustible stand (a metal or ceramic candlestick) at a significant distance from clothing and flammable objects. The candlestick should stand steadily and not wobble, and the candles in it should be securely fastened. Also, lit candles should never be left unattended.
