Rocket production is in the spotlight of Lukashenko. The President demands a decision on the industry's development

Belarus needs to decide on the future path for the development of its domestic missile industry, taking into account the forms and methods of warfare in modern conditions. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on August 21 at a meeting on missile production, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

The Belarusian leader drew attention to the dynamics of military threats and the significant increase in military spending by the country's western neighbors. According to the President, this necessitates constant and close attention to Belarus's defense capabilities, including within the framework of the Union State. For example, in June of this year, the head of the Belarusian state made a series of decisions regarding the further development of unmanned aerial vehicle systems, which are increasingly dominating the battlefield.

Alexander Lukashenko urged the participants of the current meeting to engage in a serious discussion about the next steps in the development of missile production in Belarus. "The meeting is dedicated to a serious issue – the modernization and development of missile production in Belarus," he clarified.

It should be taken into account that the country has relatively limited experience in this complex industry, which was formed, in part, with the support of Russia. "Like unmanned aviation, this industry is relatively new for the military-industrial complex; we created it literally from scratch. We have achieved some things, and some things have not worked out or are not working out," noted Alexander Lukashenko. "As in other sectors of the economy, we operate as efficiently as possible based on available financial resources. This is the primary factor."

At the meeting, according to the President, it is necessary to determine where and how to move forward in this direction, considering the forms and methods of warfare in modern conditions.

"This is also important in connection with my visit to the People's Republic of China and my conversation with PRC Chairman Xi Jinping (we are planning such a meeting). Why? Because we started or continued rocket engineering in close connection with the Chinese military-industrial complex, and now we have contacts," said Alexander Lukashenko.
