The Prosecutor's Office of Glubokoye District supported the state prosecution against citizen Ivanov A.A. (details changed), who committed a crime under Part 2 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. Law enforcement agencies accused Ivanov of intentional infliction of less serious bodily harm, i.e., harm that is not dangerous to life and does not entail consequences provided for by Article 147 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, but caused a prolonged health disorder for up to four months, committed in a manner that constituted torture.

The accused fully admitted his guilt during the court hearing.

The court of Glubokoye District issued a guilty verdict against Ivanov. The man was found guilty of intentionally inflicting, on April 13, 2021, between 5:30 PM and 7:20 PM, while intoxicated, during an argument with his acquaintance S. due to personal animosity, at least 18 blows to various parts of her body. The aforementioned act was committed by Ivanov in a manner that constituted torture.

As a result of the beating, the victim sustained less serious bodily harm not dangerous to life – fractured ribs, numerous abrasions, which caused S. a health disorder for a period not exceeding four months.

The court of the district sentenced Ivanov to restriction of liberty for a term of 2 years without direction to an open-type correctional institution. The verdict has entered into legal force.
