Gluboksky district is one of the most industrially developed districts of the Vitebsk region. It was formed on January 15, 1940, and is located in the northwestern part of Belarus.
The total area of the district is about 176 thousand hectares. 54% of the district's area is occupied by agricultural land, and arable land is about 30%. Lands of the state forest fund constitute 26%, swamps - 6%, 27 rivers and streams flow through the territory of the district, and there are 106 lakes. According to specialists of "Belkosmosaerogeodesy", the geographical center of Europe is located in the Gluboksky district near Lake Sho.
Administratively, the district is divided into 13 village councils.
