Rumak: the state recognizes religious organizations as partners in the implementation of social policy

The state recognizes religious organizations as partners in implementing state social policy, stated the Commissioner for Religious and National Affairs, Alexander Rumak, at a round table discussion titled "State and Church. Joint activities to protect traditional values and support the institution of the family," which took place at the National Library of Belarus, according to a BELTA correspondent. "The role of religious organizations in society is significant. They are not only custodians of spiritual values but also actively participate in addressing social, educational, and cultural issues," noted Alexander Rumak.
According to him, examples include programs to assist families in crisis situations, large families, children, and people with addictions. "The state, for its part, ensures conditions for the harmonious coexistence of various denominations and the maintenance of social stability in Belarusian society. From the state's perspective, recognizing the role of religious organizations as partners in implementing state social policy is an important step in this direction," stated Alexander Rumak. Addressing the topic of the round table, he drew attention to the fact that religious organizations and various denominations preach universal human values, in which the family occupies a central place. The fundamental approaches to the family as a social institution are enshrined not only in civil but also in religious laws and are reflected in sacred texts.
"Belarus has been a multi-confessional country since time immemorial. And regardless of the faith of our ancestors, family has always been paramount for Belarusians," he emphasized. The participants of the round table discussed the joint work of the state and religious organizations in protecting traditional values and supporting the institution of the family. According to Nikolai Buzin, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Human Rights, National Relations, and Mass Media of the House of Representatives, for the first time in many years, representatives of all leading confessions of Belarus gathered on the parliamentary platform. This demonstrates unity to the whole world and the ability to solve the most complex problems. The round table is organized by the Standing Commission on Human Rights, National Relations, and Mass Media of the House of Representatives with the support of the Commissioner for Religious and National Affairs and the National Library of Belarus.
