From May 16 to 18, a set of preventive measures will be held aimed at preventing road traffic accidents involving cyclists, motorcyclists, and persons using personal mobility devices.

From May 16 to 18, employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Vitebsk region will carry out a set of preventive measures aimed at preventing road traffic accidents involving cyclists, motorcyclists, and persons moving on personal mobility devices (PMDs).

Settlements and adjacent roads will be patrolled to prevent and suppress violations of traffic rules by cyclists, persons moving on PMDs, and motorcyclists.

Cycling should be carried out on a bicycle path, and in its absence – on the shoulder or pedestrian path, without creating obstacles for safe pedestrian movement. In the absence of the specified road elements or the impossibility of moving on them, cyclists are allowed to move on the roadway in a single file no further than 1 meter from its right edge.

In this case:

· moving further than 1 meter from the right edge of the roadway is allowed only for overtaking an obstacle and, in permitted cases, for turning left or making a U-turn;

· columns of cyclists moving on the roadway must be divided into groups of no more than 10 cyclists. The distance between groups must be at least 100 meters;

· if there is a horizontal road marking line on the roadway indicating its edge, this line should be to the left of the cyclist.

Cycling on the roadway, regardless of the presence of a bicycle path, shoulder, sidewalk, or pedestrian path, may be carried out:

· in a zone with a limited maximum speed of no more than 1 meter from its right edge in a single file;

· during educational and training processes, if accompanied by a support vehicle. In this case, cyclists are allowed to move in two rows, but no more than 10 cyclists per group.

When driving on a road in the dark and/or in conditions of poor visibility, bicycles and mopeds must have the following lights turned on: a headlight (lamp) emitting white light at the front, and a taillight emitting red light at the rear. Outside of populated areas, cyclists must wear high-visibility clothing with reflective elements (except when riding on a bicycle path). Cyclists are required to cross the roadway at a bicycle crossing or bicycle path, and in their absence, at a pedestrian crossing, at an intersection along the line of sidewalks or shoulders, without obstructing pedestrian traffic.

When crossing the roadway, a cyclist is permitted to remain on their bicycle.

When riding at unregulated pedestrian crossings, bicycle crossings, and regulated pedestrian crossings, bicycle crossings, with a permissive signal from a traffic controller or traffic light for both drivers and cyclists, the cyclist has priority over other vehicles.

When crossing the roadway at an intersection via a bicycle path, along the line of sidewalks or shoulders, cyclists must follow the requirements of traffic lights or traffic controllers for vehicles, and at an unregulated intersection, the rules for navigating unregulated intersections and priority road signs. When approaching an intersection with the roadway, cyclists must reduce their speed in advance and, having ensured that entering the roadway is safe, cross it at the speed of a walking pedestrian.

Mopeds must be driven on the roadway no further than 1 meter from its right edge. Driving further than 1 meter from the right edge is permitted only to bypass an obstacle and, in permitted cases, for left turns or U-turns, as well as in situations where a traffic lane is designated only for right turns.

Cyclists and moped riders are prohibited from:

1. Using technically faulty bicycles and mopeds, as well as those equipped in violation of established requirements;

2. to move on the roadway, to carry passengers, except for cases of carrying children under the age of seven on a bicycle in a bicycle helmet on an additional specially equipped seat that secures the child's legs, or when passenger transportation is provided for by the moped's design;

3. to carry cargo that extends more than 0.5 meters in length or width beyond the dimensions of the vehicle, as well as cargo that interferes with the control of this vehicle.

A bicycle rider is prohibited from:

1. operating a bicycle on the road without the accompaniment of an adult before reaching the age of fourteen (except for pedestrian and residential zones, sidewalks, bicycle and pedestrian paths);

2. turning left or making a U-turn on a road with a tram track, and on a road with more than one lane for traffic in the same direction.

A moped rider is prohibited from riding on sidewalks, bicycle and pedestrian paths, and equestrian paths.

Towing a bicycle and being towed by a bicycle is prohibited, except for a commercially manufactured bicycle trailer.
