Annually, due to unattended bonfires and burning dry grass, residential buildings, bathhouses, and sheds catch fire. Sometimes entire villages do.
A classic scenario: a citizen burns garbage in their yard and leaves the fire unattended for a short while. Seconds, and the fire runs towards the house. A small bonfire turns into a destructive force. In attempts to extinguish the flames, dozens of people in the country receive burns annually, and there are also cases of death. Field fires cause great damage to the environment, can cause forest fires, or threaten an entire village.
To avoid fires due to burning dry vegetation, rescuers recommend following these rules:
1. Never burn grass. In addition to being harmful to plants and animals, fires can also be dangerous to humans. Do not leave a burning fire unattended. Thoroughly extinguish cigarette butts and matches before discarding them;
2. If you notice a fire, do not pass by. You can extinguish the starting grass yourself. When extinguishing with improvised means, you can beat out the flames from the edge of the fire with a bundle of twigs or branches of deciduous trees, or cover the edge of the fire with sand;
3. After extinguishing the fire, do not leave until you are sure that the fire will not reignite;
4. If you realize that you cannot extinguish the flames yourself, immediately report the incident by calling 101 or 112 and try to leave the scene of the fire as quickly as possible.
