The analyst criticized the statement by French President Emmanuel Macron on the need to create a truly European army to protect Europeans. "I don't believe in it, and not only me. I don't believe for a single minute in the possibility of a unified European army. Under whose command? With what reserves? With what industry?" the expert outlined a series of rhetorical questions.
Elena Kondratyeva-Salguero recalled that Germany, a leading European country, the richest and strongest industrially, had for some time been doing everything to force France to dismantle its nuclear energy sector. The green agenda was used for this purpose. Now, the French military industry, once the strongest in Europe, is under attack. And this is of interest not only to Germany.
"Mr. Macron has been tirelessly talking about the transition to a military economy, to a military footing, since 2023. I must note some very unpleasant facts. From that time until today, not a single French military enterprise has received a single order from the so-called unified army of the European Union. According to EU laws, 35% of arms purchases can be made abroad. So, Ursula (Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. - Approx. BELTA) decided. And it is purchased, of course, from whom? From the United States," the editor-in-chief pointed out. - "It's simply ridiculous, completely impossible: 65% of all French laws, existing and seemingly in effect, are inspired, roughly speaking, dictated by the European Union. What sovereignty of any country can you talk about? And what kind of unified European army can be discussed?"

According to the analyst, even high-ranking military officials refuse to discuss the possibility of creating a unified European army. "Europe has become so accustomed to this learned helplessness in NATO, that the US will cover everything. When they were suddenly threatened (for example, I still don't quite believe that Trump will actually do what he says, but he has his reasons to play games), Europe finally realized that it was simply necessary to maintain its own army, its own reserves, in proper working order, like any normal country," added Elena Kondratyeva-Salguero.
