To prevent accidents, employees of the district emergency situations department, together with OSVOD, are conducting raids on reservoirs. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations checked how well fishermen ensured their safety when going out on the ice, what rescue equipment they took with them, and how well they knew how to act if someone nearby fell through the ice.

- Aren't you afraid to go out on the ice? - the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees asked a sitting fisherman. - It is strictly forbidden to go out on ice with a thickness of less than 7 centimeters. Before going out on the ice, you need to check its strength. If the ice begins to crack, you should return the same way, as moving further can lead to falling through at any moment. Every fisherman must have basic rescue equipment with them – a life jacket and special ice picks.

REMINDER: ice that is green or bluish-green in color and at least 7-10 centimeters thick is considered safe. Dirty or brownish-gray ice is usually already thawed and weak. Take care of yourself.
