The State Nature Protection Institution (SNPI) "Golubovo Garden" was established in 2006 on the basis of the republican hydrological reserve "Dolgoe" to protect the unique natural complex with populations of rare and endangered plants of the lake itself and its shoreline.

Lake Dolgoe has been a State Hydrological Reserve "Dolgoe" since August 16, 1979, established at the suggestion of scientists and specialists from Belarusian State University based on the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Belarusian SSR No. 252 dated August 16, 1979 "On the establishment of state reserves on peat deposits and lakes of the republic".

In order to implement the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Specially Protected Natural Territories", by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated December 27, 2007 No. 1833 "On Republican Reserves", Lake Dolgoe of the Glubokoe district of the Vitebsk region was declared a Republican Hydrological Reserve "Dolgoe"
The reserve is a promising object for the development of ecotourism in the Republic. The following are equipped on the territory of the reserve: swimming areas with a pier for fishing, wooden tables under canopies, gazebos, toilets, a changing room, tent sites, fire pits, and parking lots for vehicles. For lovers of "wild" tourism, all necessary services are provided.
