In Glubokoye, the Day of Remembrance of Soldiers-Internationalists was celebrated

Residents of Glubokoye celebrated the Day of Remembrance for Internationalist Soldiers and the 36th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

The event took place in Victory Park. It was attended by the leadership of the Glubokoye District Executive Committee, deputies of the District Council of Deputies, internationalist soldiers, youth, as well as representatives of political parties and public associations, labor collectives of organizations, institutions, enterprises, and law enforcement agencies of the district.

Vera Telitsa, Chairperson of the Glubokoye District Council of Deputies, at the rally in Glubokoye: "We are proud of our internationalist soldiers."

– Today we celebrate the Day of Remembrance for Internationalist Soldiers. On this day, we remember those who did not return home and thank those who survived and returned to their homeland. This commemorative day reminds us of the courage and heroism of our compatriots who fulfilled their duty in hot spots around the world, – said Vera Telitsa.

She noted that the events of the Afghan war will forever remain in the memory of the participants of these events.

– We are proud of our internationalist soldiers who went through trials and hardships, defending the interests of their country and people. Your feats will forever remain in our memory and will serve as an example for future generations, – added the Chairperson of the Council of Deputies.

Concluding her speech, Vera Telitsa wished all those present good health, success, fighting spirit, well-being in their families, peace, goodness, and creation.

"The Day of Remembrance for Internationalist Soldiers is like May 9th for the participants of the Great Patriotic War," – Anton Zhdanovich on the significance of February 15th.

The chairman of the Glubokoye District Organization of the public association "Belarusian Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan", deputy of the Glubokoye District Council, Anton Petrovich Zhdanovich, addressed the rally participants.

Anton Petrovich pointed out the significance of the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers in the context of the heritage of the former Soviet Union countries. He said that despite the difference in perception of this date in other states, in Belarus, internationalist soldiers will always be remembered and their defenders will be cared for:

– For us, combat veterans, February 15 is like May 9 for the participants of the Great Patriotic War.

Representatives of the Glubokoye District Executive Committee, deputies of the District Council of Deputies, combat veterans, representatives of political parties and public associations, members of labor collectives of organizations, institutions and enterprises, as well as employees of the district's law enforcement agencies took part in the event.

The rally participants honored the memory of the fallen with a minute of silence, and then laid fresh flowers at the monument, thereby expressing their deep gratitude and respect for the heroism and selflessness shown by the internationalist soldiers.
