As part of the final board meeting of the main healthcare department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, new facilities were opened in Vitebsk

The opening of the computed tomography room at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Cardiology Center and the magnetic resonance imaging room at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Minister of Health Boris Androsyuk, and Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee Mikhail Vishnevetsky.

– With the commissioning of the CT scanner, diagnostics will be significantly easier and treatment will be more effective. Up to 35,000 people receive consultative and diagnostic care at our center annually. These are not only residents of the Vitebsk region, but also of the republic as a whole, – explained Natalia Podolinskaya, chief physician of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Cardiology Center. – The availability of a computed tomograph with a cardiac package will expand the diagnostic capabilities of our specialists and improve the quality of high-tech specialized medical care. For example, it will help detect coronary heart disease and pulmonary embolism at early stages, determine the presence of thrombi in the heart chambers or vessels, and in other clinical situations.

The commissioning of a new magnetic resonance imaging machine at the oncology dispensary (VOKOD) will reduce the waiting time for MRI examinations for primary outpatient patients, VOKOD informed media representatives. It is planned to separate patient flows for outpatient and inpatient appointments and patients from central district hospitals. A remote injector will allow for reliable diagnosis of pathological formations with contrast enhancement.

– The oncology center uses the most advanced technologies in its work to provide assistance to patients. A number of advantages will be provided by the new equipment that has been put into operation, – said the chief physician of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary (VOKOD), Anzhelika Tomchina. – Thanks to this, the throughput will significantly increase, as there are four workstations for doctors here, artificial intelligence imaging is used, and good visualization. All these functions will allow us to carry out diagnostics. And, perhaps, the most important thing is that MRI examinations will become more accessible, primarily for cancer patients.

The equipment, the chief physician reported, was purchased by the Ministry of Health, and the local authorities provided significant assistance in financing the construction and installation work and commissioning the equipment.
