Attention!!! Thin ice!

Based on clause 50 of the Rules for the Protection of Human Life on Waters of the Republic of Belarus, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated December 11, 2009 No. 1623, in order to prevent accidents on water bodies of the Vitebsk region in the winter-spring period of 2022/2023, a ban has been established on the territory of the district on citizens going out on the ice during the period of ice formation (until the ice thickness reaches 7 centimeters), as well as during the period of intensive melting and destruction of ice.

Based on clause 50 of the Rules for the Protection of Human Life on Waters of the Republic of Belarus, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated December 11, 2009 No. 1623, in order to prevent accidents on water bodies of the Vitebsk region in the winter-spring period of 2022/2023, a ban has been established on the territory of the district on citizens going out on the ice during the period of ice formation (until the ice thickness reaches 7 centimeters), as well as during the period of intensive melting and destruction of ice.

A corresponding order has been adopted by the district executive committee in order to prevent accidents on water bodies and preserve human life. The document prohibits going out on the ice until its thickness reaches 7 cm. For disobedience to the lawful requirements of law enforcement officers, administrative responsibility is provided in the form of a fine from 20 to 50 basic units.

According to the Vitebsk regional public association "Belarusian Voluntary Society for the Rescue of People on Waters" (OSVOD), the ice thickness does not reach 7 cm on the following water bodies:

The basins of the Western Dvina and Dnieper rivers throughout their entire length.

Beshenkovichi District: Lakes – Ostrovenskoye, Beloye, Saro, Svyatoye, Strigoevskoye, Poluozerie.

Verkhnedvinsk District: Lake – Osvenskoye.

Glubokoye District: Lakes – Velikoye, Kagalnoye, Petrovskoye, Bolshaya Plissa, Beloye, Shcho.

Gorodok District: Lakes – Chernovo, Bernovo.

Lepel District: Lakes – Lepelskoye, Prosha, Shchibot, Bobritsa, Polsvizh, Lyadno. Ladosno, Okono, Borovno, Cherskoe, Rivers – Essa, Ulla.

Polotsk District: Lakes – Yanovo, Paulye, Suya, Gomlya, Beloye.

Postavy District: Lakes – Luchai, Chetvert.

Rossony District: Lakes – Klesno, Tuchek, Bredno, Beloye-Yukhovskoye, Nozhnitsy, Neshcherdo, Selyavshchinskoye, Valkovskoye, Cherepitskoye, Vedito, Dolzhnoye, River Nisch.

Ushachi District: lakes – Vechelye, Oslovo, Poluozerye, Tartak, Zvon, Glubokoye, Krivoye, Lipno, Bolshoye Isno, Zamoshye, Plino, Yаzno, Glybochka, Berezovskoye, Paulskoye, Verkudskoye, Uroda, Mugirino.

Chashniki District:lakes – Khotlino, Tyapino, "Bumazhnaya Fabrika" microdistrict, Beloye, Paulskoye, Chereyskoye, Lukomlskoye, flooded quarry Gili.

Shumilino District: lake Budovyes.
