The railway is a source of increased danger! However, not all citizens observe personal safety measures and cross railway tracks wherever they please: both in front of a moving train, and under the wagons of a stationary train, and also walk along the railway line. As a result, violators pose a real threat not only to their own lives but also to other citizens. The main reason for the death of citizens under the wheels of railway transport is the intoxication of the victims, as well as personal indiscipline when in close proximity to a source of increased danger. For walking or being on railway tracks in places not intended for crossing, administrative liability is provided for under Part 4 of Article 18.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus: a fine of up to 2 basic units.
However, the very fact of bringing to administrative responsibility does not always have a sobering effect on a person; people continue to disregard elementary personal safety rules when near railway transport facilities, often while intoxicated, which leads to a loss of vigilance near a source of increased danger, so to speak, they do not realize the severity of the consequences of their thoughtless actions. People probably do not understand that it is not so easy to stop a moving train; the braking distance can be over a kilometer. In this regard, I would like to remind you of personal safety measures when on railway transport facilities:
• Pedestrians must cross railway tracks only in designated areas, using pedestrian bridges, tunnels, and crossings.
• Before crossing the tracks on a pedestrian crossing, ensure there are no moving trains, locomotives, or wagons. When a train, locomotive, or wagons are approaching, stop, let them pass, and after ensuring there is no rolling stock moving on adjacent tracks, proceed with crossing.
Strictly prohibited:
• Walking on railway tracks.
• Crossing or running across railway tracks in front of an approaching train if the distance to it is less than 400 meters.
• Crossing tracks immediately after a train in one direction has passed, without ensuring there is no train approaching from the opposite direction.
• Crossing railway crossings when the barrier is closed or the red signal of the crossing signal lights is displayed.
• At stations and on sections between stations, crawling under wagons and climbing over couplers to cross the tracks.
• Walking along a railway track closer than 5 meters from the outer rail.
Violation of railway crossing rules is subject to administrative liability under Article 18.10 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus: a fine ranging from 2 to 4 base units.
