American scientists interested in research of Belarusian scientist
VITEBSK, 21 April (BelTA) – Wide use of intellectual resources of young scientists is a necessary condition for the innovative development of Vitebsk Oblast. The statement was made by Oleg Matskevich, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee, at the ceremony of awarding talented scientists and specialists on 21 April. The open annual contest gathered 29 projects prepared by scientists from five universities of Vitebsk Oblast and the Technical Acoustics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Seven individual researchers and research teams have been named winners. Natalia Poddubnaya has been nominated a laureate in the area of fundamental research. She is a junior research officer with the Technical Acoustics Institute. Her work “The influence of dispersity of the initial LZT ceramics powder on resonant magnetoelectric effect of Ni/LZT compound material” is one of the most quoted papers in its field. Natalia Poddubnaya has been invited to give lectures in the USA. A team of young researchers from the Polotsk State University is one of the laureates in the nomination “Applied research and development” for the project “Complex system for protecting water objects during emergencies at intercontinental oil pipelines”. The work has been praised by rescue workers as they dealt with consequences of a fuel spill in Vitebsk Oblast. Scientists of the medical university and the veterinary academy are among laureates of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee award. In line with the contest’s charter all laureates have been awarded cash prizes. Nearly Br5 million had been allocated for the purpose.
