Around 5,000 Vitebsk residents attend celebrations timed to Independence Day
VITEBSK, 5 July (BelTA) – Around 5,000 Vitebsk residents attended the celebrations timed to the Independence Day. The main events of the celebration were held in the center of the city, BelTA has learnt. Taking part in the celebrations were veterans of the Great Patriotic War, representatives of labour collectives of more than 70 enterprises of the city, social organizations and law-enforcement bodies. During the show agricultural companies of the region demonstrated new farm machinery. Amateur talent groups, representatives of the Vitebsk sports schools, winners of various sports and creative competitions, representatives of public organizations took part in the celebrations timed to the Independence Day. Victory Square and Liberation Square of Vitebsk hosted special concert program, To you Belarus! Exhibition and fair with the participation of local folk bands was organized near the Dvina Arts Center. A water-sport festival was held in the park near the Vitba River. A concert with the participation of Belarusian and Russian pop-singers was held in Victory Square of Vitebsk in the evening. The action, Let’s Sing Anthem Together, and a salute finished the Independence Day celebrations in Vitebsk.
