The Belarusian customs service will get a preliminary notification about Russian transit cargoes. The decision was taken by a session of the Customs Committee of the Union State in Grodno on February 14, Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus (SCC) Alexander Shpilevsky told BelTA. He remarked, the procedure is already used by the Belarusian-Lithuanian border checkpoint Privalki (Grodno oblast). The customs service receives a preliminary notification about a Russian transit cargo, which for example leaves Kaliningrad, accelerates and controls the border crossing of the cargo. Starting May 1, 2007 all Belarusian border checkpoints are supposed to get information about transit cargo transportation inside the Union State, said Alexander Shpilevsky. The Customs Committee also discussed issues pertaining the creation of the united customs space, adopted a schedule of the Union State Customs Committee’s operation in 2008.
