Number of small enterprises in Vitebsk Oblast up 10%
VITEBSK, 21 July (BelTA) – The number of small enterprises in Vitebsk Oblast increased by almost 10% from July 2010 to about 8,200, BelTA learnt from the press center of the Regional Inspectorate of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties. As of 1 July, there were more than 35,700 small enterprises, including about 27,600 self-employed businessmen. Number of self-employed businessmen decreased by approximately 6% compared with July 2010. In January-June this year this category of taxpayers paid Br301.6 billion in taxes, up by about 13% over the same period in 2010. The biggest contributors were small businesses operating in wholesale trade (about 26.7%), in manufacturing (18.6%) and construction (10%). Small business accounted for around 11% of the regional consolidated budget revenues. In terms of districts, the biggest contributors January-June were Shumilino District where small business generated over 47.5% of regional revenues, Vitebsk District (34%) and Polotsk District (almost 30%). In the six months from January to may the share of entrepreneurial sector in the amount of budgetary payments made up about 2.5%. In Orsha this figure approached 10%. In Lepel, Glubokoe and Postavy districts self-employed businessmen generated about 9% of revenues of the local budget. As of 1 July, 11 small enterprises had arrears to the budget totaling more than Br470 million. Compared with the early June data, the volume of small business debts wend down by almost 44%.
