ORSHA, 20 November (BelTA) - Orsha and Smolensk signed a cooperation agreement, BelTA learnt from Ms Elena Rusakova, the head of the ideology department of the Orsha Town Executive Committee. The two parties intend to develop relations in trade, scientific, technological, culture and education, sports, and medicine. The authorities of the two twin-towns intend to contribute to the establishment of direct contacts between enterprises and economic entities, develop options for mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of targeted social programs. According to the Economy Department of the Orsha Town Executive Committee, local enterprises actively develop economic relations with Russian regions. In January-September the trade increased by 8.9%, with exports going up by 15.7%. The biggest exporters are Orsha Linen Mill, Svitanok, Dinamo Program Orsha, Orshastrojmaterialy. For example, Orshastrojmaterialy shipped cellular concrete worth of RUB167.4 million to Smolensk Oblast. The subsidiary of Trest Beltransstro supplied its Smolensk partners with concrete products to the tune of RUB10.6 million. Smolensk is the 15th city that Orsha has signed a cooperation agreement with.
