Vitebsk seniors learn to stay up to date
VITEBSK, 1 March (BelTA) - The course of informal learning “Bridge Across Generations” for elderly residents opens in Vitebsk on 2 March, BelTA learnt from the chairperson of Pradslava UNESCO club Nina Kovpak. The Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs, Vitebsk City Library No 20 and Pradslava UNESCO Club will help senior citizens to keep pace with the times, improve the quality of life. The free-of-charge course is designed for four thematic meetings. The first meeting is aimed to teach conflict-free communication with different generations. The second one will lay the foundations of communication via the Internet, the third one - with the help of foreign languages. The fourth will help organize and plan activities. It is the fourth meeting that will be the basis for further communication between participants of the course and help them organize similar courses, hobby groups for elderly people. For example, a pensioner, a former teacher of German language, can teach his/her friends some foreign language skills. A senior Internet user can share his Internet skills with friends too. “It is very important to draw attention of the trainees that when retired, they have new opportunities, which should be actively used. This is the main objective of the course “Bridge Across Generations”, Nina Kovpak believes.
