Vitebsk to host Days of Latvia
VITEBSK, 17 November (BelTA) – The Days of Latvia will be held in Vitebsk this month, BelTA learnt from the Vitebsk City Hall. The Days of Latvia which celebrates its national holiday, the Day of Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia, on 18 November are traditionally held in Vitebsk in November. The program of the Days will include events prepared jointly with the Center of Latvian Culture, Daugavpils’ cultural department, the Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Vitebsk and the Vitebsk Culture Center. The Gaugava brass band will give a concert in the Vitebsk Concert Hall. Partaking in the concert will be mezzo soprano of the National Latvian Opera Ilona Bagele and popular young singer, holder of the Vladimir Mulyavin Award, Dainis Skutelis. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia has prepared a travelling photographic exhibition of song and dance festivals in Latvia. The exhibition includes about 40 photographs made by different Latvian authors. The main aim of the exhibition is to contribute to the recognition of Latvian cultural traditions in the world. Thanks to the Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Vitebsk, the exhibition will be held in this city. It will stay open from 21 November to 1 December. International cooperation in the field of culture has always been the main attribute and the key to warm, friendly relations between different nations and states. According to the Vitebsk City Hall, the city intends to continue cooperating with foreign countries and immediate neighbors of the Republic Belarus.
