Zuzya Poozersky opens Christmas Tree’s Museum in Postavy region
Zjuzya Poozersky will open the Christmas Tree’s Museum in the Postavy region, BelTA learnt from Egor Shushkevich, the director of the Postavy Tourist Centre. Zuzya Poozersky, a character of the old Slavonic mythology, is the idol of cold and frost. In the new museum Zuzya will tell his guests about the roots of the tradition to decorate Christmas Tree, Christmas tree’s decorations which were in fashion in the 19th century and in the middle of the 20th century, what postcards were used by the locals to congratulate each other on Christmas Holidays. The museum will have a special exposition dedicated to the most majestic holiday – Christmas Day and New Year. This winter season tourists will have an opportunity to try special winter cereal cooked by Zuzya and his friends Grandma Ganna, Aunt Zavya, Grandma Napastsya, Ledovik and Ognevik, Belarusian Christmas characters. Zuzya Poozersky will treat his guests with herbal tea, pancakes and gingerbread made according to old recipes. Everyone who wishes will be able to buy a Christmas souvenir made by a potter or a carver. According to Egor Shushkevich, last year more than 5,000 people including guests from Russia, China, Germany, Italy and Poland visited Zuzya’s residency. This year, the number of guests is expected to increase, the specialist noted.
