The accommodation for 631 families who live in shabby houses or houses that are in a dangerous condition will be built in Belarus in 2009, BelTA learnt from the housing construction department of the Belarusian Ministry of Construction and Architecture. The total area of the housing to be put in operation is 37.4 thousand square meters. In the Brest oblast 95 families will get new apartments, in the Vitebsk oblast – 60, in the Gomel oblast – 80, in the Grodno oblast 120, in the Minsk oblast – 70, in the Mogilev oblast – 100, in the city of Minsk – 106. Br79.65 billion will be allocated for the construction of the housing to substitute the apartments and houses recognized as unsuitable for living. Of them Br77.15 billion will be allotted by the local budgets, Br2.5 billion are credits provided on preferential terms. All in all, 717.5 thousand Belarusians were on the waiting list for better housing in 2008. Of them 2.2 thousand people (0.3%) lived in the houses that were recognized as unsuitable for living. In January-September 2008, 552 apartments were constructed for this category of people.
