MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – Belarus possesses high economic and scientific potential, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad said as he met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 26 July, BelTA has learnt. The Syrian President said he is glad to be in Belarus. In his words, Belarus whose people survived the Nazism remains committed to independent policy. Bashar Al-Assad noted that the peoples of the two countries should benefit from good political relations between the states. “The economic aspect is the most important one. You possess high economic and scientific capacities. The both countries have an important position in their regions,” the Syrian President said. He added that he is interested in the materialization of the bilateral agreements. Bashar Al-Assad pointed out to the friendliness of the relations between Belarus and Syria. “I think we can totally rely on each other in this friendship,” he said. n
