Belarus crops 6.7 million tonnes of grain
MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – The agricultural companies of Belarus harvested 6.674,3 million tonnes of grain as of early 17 August. The average yield is 38.6 centners per hectare, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry. The Minsk, Grodno and Brest oblasts have hit one million tonnes of grain apiece. The highest result has been in the Minsk oblast – 1.707,8 million tonnes. The agricultural companies threshed 1.309,7 million tonnes in the Grodno oblast, 1.140,4 million tonnes in the Brest oblast, 932,900 thousand tonnes in the Gomel oblast, 878,800 thousand tonnes in the Mogilev oblast and 704,600 thousand tonnes in the Vitebsk oblast. This year the average crop capacity is 0.5 centners per hectare more than in 2008. The highest yield has been registered in the Grodno oblast (46.3 centners per hectare). On the whole the country has harvested 1.733.6 million hectares, 75.3% of the plan. The Brest oblast has made up almost 88% of the plan, the Grodno and Gomel oblasts – 81.8% and 81.6% respectively. 73.3% of the sown area has been threshed in the Minsk oblast, 68.7% in the Mogilev oblast, nearly 60% in the Vitebsk oblast. Agricultural companies daily crop 84,800 hectares, 3.7%. The national agricultural companies have already harvested 82,000 hectares of brewer’s barley, 93.5% of the plan.
