Belarus determines priority technological advance areas for 2011-2015
MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – Priority research and engineering areas for 2011-2015 have been determined by decree No 378 in Belarus. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed the decree on 22 July, the press service of the Belarusian head of state told BelTA. Within the next five years efforts will be focused on power engineering and energy saving, agribusiness technologies and enterprises, industrial and construction technologies and enterprises, medicine as well as medical instruments and technologies, pharmaceuticals, chemical technologies, nano and bio technologies, information, communication and aerospace technologies, new materials, rational environmental management, resource saving and protection from emergencies, defensive capability and national security. According to the source, in most cases these areas are vital and will allow raising living standards of the Belarusians and the national security. n The decision is supposed to direct scientific and technical efforts towards implementing projects meant to create new branches of the economy with a high added value, low energy and resource consumption in manufacturing. Combined, the factors will contribute to intensifying the development of the national economy and raising the wellbeing of the nation.
